Adequate Coverage
Our years of experience dealing with insurance companies for our personal injury clients have taught us one thing: the majority of drivers are woefully undercovered – even the ones who are paying for what they think is a very comprehensive policy. The craziest part? For most of these people, obtaining better coverage doesn’t have to cost a dime. In fact, we’ve helped many drivers slash hundreds off their annual insurance bills even as they more than doubled their protection.
It might sound too good to be true, but there are no gimmicks here – just a collection of insurance insights we’ve gained over the years. Pull out your insurance deck sheet, give us a few minutes of your time and we’ll show you just how much better, and cheaper, your auto insurance policy can be.
Increase your protection
There are a few simple ways to shore up your policy.
Firstly, take a look at your Bodily Injury Coverage. If you’re like the majority of Americans, you’re on split-limit coverage; that means it will read something like “$100,000/person, $300,000/accident.” If this is the case, you’re woefully undercovered; you’ll want to raise your per-person coverage to match your per-accident coverage.
You can do the same for your uninsured coverage to add more personal protection.
Save money
Look at your property coverage; if yours is above $50,000, it’s definitely too high. Kick it back down to see some savings. Property coverage is what your insurance company would pay out to cover any damage caused to cars or other property in an accident – and believe us, $50,000 will suffice 99.9% of the time.
Here’s the big money-saver: kick up your collision deductible. Standard insurance plans offer a $500 deductible, which is what you might pay out of pocket if you get into an accident and need to make repairs on your car. If you raise your deductible by just $500, you’ll see huge savings. Yes, you might end up paying more out of pocket – but unless you’re prone to getting in accidents or colliding with property left and right, you’ll definitely end up saving more than you spend.
At Burke & Thomas, we know insurance – and we’re happy to pass that knowledge along. We see too many clients get too little compensation because their policies simply aren’t adequate. Give us a call and we’ll go through your insurance deck sheet with you, free of charge.

When I was a district manager for Farmers Insurance, I brought Burke & Thomas in to talk with and educate my agents, so they became true risk managers and not just policy peddlers. After Burke & Thomas informed them, they could education and tell clients why and how we protect them.
